Record of payments made on accounts in the Ledger series [MSA S0151]. Entries relate to pensions, payments to several funds, Indian annuities, and salaries for various officers, including Chancellor, Tobacco Inspector, and Adjutant General. Also contains journal of the State Clothier for Maryland troops (1779-1781), which is a daily record of cloth, rum, sugar, tea, coffee, soap, chocolate, and tobacco issued to officers in the Maryland Line. These entries give location and date Clothier issued supplies. Arranged chronologically.

The office of the Auditor General evolved out of two agencies, the 1776 Board of Accounts and the 1777 Board of Auditors, neither of which lasted more than one year. In March 1778, the House of Delegates resolved to appoint an auditor general to audit, state, and settle public accounts (Laws of 1778, res. 1).
